Three main volumes were arranged to create a central courtyard space; the main 2 storey south facing wing which accommodates the principal living areas, a single storey guest wing following the site boundary towards the East, and the garage / hangar forming the enclosure of the 'yard' towards the south.
The roof of the main wing sails beyond the building enclosure at the west gable to provide a generous sheltered external area facing the oaks on the western boundary (evening sun sets etc.), and providing shade to the largely glazed gable.
The eaves also project beyond the south façade, allowing low angle winter sun to enter whilst protecting the house from excessive solar gain during the summer months. This overhang also provides a covered walkway / veranda which links with sheltered area beneath eaves of the single storey west facing guest wing. completion 2013
